Rice University Duncan Hall Dean’s Suite Remodel

STOA International Architects, Inc. / Rice University Duncan Hall Dean’s Suite Remodel

Rice University Duncan Hall Dean’s Suite Remodel

In 2015 STOA was chosen to do design feasibility studies by incorporating the Rice Space Standard for office areas. The goal was to maximize the existing space by downsizing the offices per the Rice Space Standard and gain more offices. STOA provided eight concept layouts for pricing during this time.

In 2018 STOA Architects was again selected to design the Dean’s Suite by re-evaluating the entire office, including the lobby, breakrooms, and circulation space. This study revamped the whole suite and produced four new offices and a new huddle room. The challenge for the reconfigured office was the location of existing concrete columns and the existing in-wall fan coil units. Coordination of the MEP systems with new layouts was vital to the success remodel.
