HISD The Rusk School

STOA International Architects, Inc. / HISD The Rusk School

HISD The Rusk School

The work at the existing Rusk School involved the complete renovation of the School Office Administration Area, restoration of public restrooms to meet ADA, new floor finish in each classroom, new acoustical ceiling, and window/door replacement. Also included was the design and addition of a new entry canopy and landscape walls to match the new addition. Also, HVAC, electrical, security/alarm, and intercom improvements added to update the school’s infrastructure.

The new addition consists of a new central plant and a new two-story building that includes 21,000 SF of classrooms, computer labs, science labs, and a 3,000 SF multipurpose space. To enhance the existing property, STOA Architects implemented site improvements that included the creation of additional parking and play areas. They also designed a new covered canopy to seamlessly connect both school buildings by integrating the established circulation patterns.  Furthermore, STOA Architects introduced accent brick and pattern to give the new addition a unique and complementary appearance, setting it apart while maintaining visual harmony.
