STOA Architects provided design services for this three-bay drive-through fire station including living facilities for a paid staff. Due to a very restricted urban site, the station is a two-story facility. The apparatus bays, watch office, hose maintenance area, clean room, and gear lockers are located on the first floor and the living areas including the Chief’s and Captain’s quarters are located on the second floor.
The second floor also includes firefighters sleeping areas and a lounge with a kitchen, an exercise room, a study area, and a computer area for firefighter use. Stairways and an elevator for handicap use and fire poles for the use of crews responding to calls provide a connection between floors. The building’s exterior is brick and the sloped roof consists of standing seam metal.
